Course Summary
The presence of lead or mold in a home can derail the home buying process. Participants of this course will
learn common characteristics of lead and mold found in homes and health issues associated with both. The
instructor will assist participants through mold and lead testing. Real estate agents who take this course will be
better equipped to communicate the implications and importance of mold and lead testing to their clients and
will leave the course with strategies to diminish the impact of mold and lead when buying and selling a
property.

• Define lead abatement and explain why lead based paint is prevalent in buildings prior to 1978.

Nate K. Johnson
2024 NAR Vice President of Advocacy

  Nate JohnsonNate K. Johnson (AHWD®, ABR, C2EX, CIPS, CRS, GRI, PSA, SRES®) is 2024 Vice President of Advocacy for the National Association of REALTORS®.
Johnson has been helping people achieve their real estate goals for over two dozen years. He is President of The Real Estate Solutions Group at Redkey Realty Leaders, a full-service residential group in St. Louis. Besides representing buyers and sellers, he also leads a sales staff while overseeing daily operations for Real Estate Solutions.
An expert instructor and public speaker, Nate helps people become the best version of themselves. He’s certified to teach NAR’s “Smart Growth for the 21st Century” and “Bias Override” classes. He also teaches the Accredited Buyer Representative and the Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation courses, and instructs for the Residential Real Estate Council. Additionally, Nate teaches and speaks on a variety of other topics, including fair housing, Code of Ethics, business planning, and leadership.
